Our modular leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning process is designed to turn Zambian copper into LME-registrable cathode — commissioning April 2026, in production that June.
Each modular plant takes copper through four stages, converting run-of-mine material into finished cathode ready for the market.
Copper ore is sourced from Zambian deposits and reduced in size ahead of leaching. Once our concentrator plant investment is complete, this stage will include flotation, gravity separation and crushing on our own equipment.
Crushed material is leached to bring copper into solution, producing a pregnant leach solution (PLS) rich in dissolved copper.
The pregnant leach solution is purified and concentrated through solvent extraction, isolating copper from impurities before it reaches the electrowinning cells.
An electric current plates high-purity copper onto starter cathodes inside the electrowinning cell, building finished copper cathode sheets ready for stripping, weighing and dispatch.
While our modular SX–EW plants are commissioned, Xincheng already produces copper concentrate through tolling agreements for export to China, and trades zinc ore, copper ore and manganese ore into the regional market.
This gives customers continuity of supply today, with a clear, funded pathway to in-house cathode production from June 2026.
